Merriman on board when Chargers face Chiefs in NFL opener

The San Diego Charger has reasons to feel confident when they face the Kansas City Chiefs in the opening of the 2010 National Football League season on September 13. This developed after the Chargers successfully signed to a one-year $3,269,000 deal, outside linebacker Shawne Merriman in the next NFL season.

The signing of Merriman is a great move on the part of the Chargers since he a feared NFL player who can offer stone-wall defence for the NFL franchise in the next season of the premier professional football league in the planet. Merriman is himself happy with his new contract since he really wants to help the cause of the Chargers in the next NFL season. The signing of Merriman is also a great relief for the Chargers since the latter earlier decided not to sign with the team due to some demands he had like a no trade clause. However, after weighing things out, Merriman decided to sign a one-year contract realizing that being traded is parts and parcel of being an NFL player.

He said now that he officially signed the contract to play for the Chargers he is now focused on helping his team defeat the Chiefs during their scheduled meeting. With Merriman now on-board, the Chargers will now focus its time to conduct an intense talks to their two important free-agents Left tackle Marcus McNeill and Pro Bowl wide receiver Vincent Jackson who both refused to sign their tenders because they want long-term deals.
Dubbed "Lights Out" because of his punishing hits, Merriman missed the final 15 games of the 2008 season after having reconstructive knee surgery.
In the last NFL season, Merriman was limited to four sacks s he bounced back from the knee surgery and dealt with other injuries. Merriman was a force in his first three NFL seasons, although he served a four-game suspension in 2006 after testing positive for steroids. He had a career-high 17 sacks in 12 games that season.
The new NFL season nears its opening so make it a habit to watch the NFL games live by getting San Diego Chargers tickets.
