QB Brett Favre’s 1st TD pass in purple was the difference for the Vikings on Monday night as they moved to 3-0 in the preseason with a 17-10 victory over the Houston Texans. Favre lofted a screen pass to RB Chester Taylor and he took it to the house for a 28-yard score, capping off a 2-minute drill drive that gave the Vikings a 17-7 lead late in the 1st half.
The Vikings 1st TD came when RB Adrian Peterson dashed 75 yards on the team’s first play from scrimmage. Ryan Longwell added a 36-yard FG in the 2nd quarter.
It was over when…
S Madieu Williams skied and snared a tipped Dan Orlovsky pass to end the Texans 1st drive of the 2nd half. Orlovsky, the former Lions QB who ran out of the back of the endzone last year against the Vikings, marched Houston down the field and had the offense poised to score a TD and potentially tie the game. Instead, on a short slant intended for star WR Andre Johnson, Vikings CB Marcus McCauley got his hands on the pass, deflected it and then watched as Williams grabbed it and ended the drive.
